THE DIOCESAN RT. REV'D DR. JOHNSON AKINWAMIDE ATERE

  • Bishop Johnson Akinwamide Atere was ordained in 1986, He attended the prestigious Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan and he is also a graduate of the University of Ibadan. He bagged his doctorate degree in Old Testament from the Lagos State University.

  • He became the pioneer Bishop of Awori in 2008.

  • The Cathedral Church of St. James is the seat of the Bishop of Awori, the name Cathedral comes from Greek  and Latin words meaning "Chair".

  • The Bishop as an authority sits on his throne to teach in the Cathedral.

  • Senior and other Priests are responsible for the running of the day to day affairs of the Cathedral.

  • The Bishop is the Principal minister and he presides and preaches at major Christian festival and other occassions.

  • The Bishop is the Cathedral's Visitor and appoints Nominees who are members of the Standing Committee together with other elected members.

  • He also Issue liecenses to clergy during ordination and exercises other episcopal duties for the care and well-being of the Cathedral and the Diocese.
